local international is an international academic exchange project for fashion designers from Germany and Bangladesh focusing on sustainability and fair production methods within the fashion and textile industry. It is our aim to educate, inspire and encourage young fashion designers to be visionaries and design thinkers.
With our projects we hope to create a generation of informed designers that are pioneers at the forefront of changing the fashion and textile industry.

Our 4th project edition, local international °4 social design + crafts set a special focus on crafts and fair production methods within the fashion industry to inspire international co-operations between designers, artisans and participating organisations and to make a contribution to the promotion and preservation of the crafts.
local international °4 was a web-based semester and a digital, international study space with web seminars, video conferences and online on-site visits.

In lectures and specialised workshops, our participants are provided with an insight into the current developments and new research in the areas of sustainability and design, in order to develop their individual creative approaches, concepts, products and collections. We visit production sites and meet with NGOs, designers, artisans, workers and representatives of the fashion and textile industry in Bangladesh and Germany. local international °4, the latest edition, took place as a digital semester from May 2020 to September 2020.
